Watering the Tree?
Thursday, July 24th, 2008Here’s a video of Gavin with our new tree last week. I especially love the part about half-way through when he drinks from the hose! Scott was watering the tree one evening and Gavin just had to get in on the action. The amazing part was that he managed to only get his feet and hands muddy! Oh, and it was “Island Party Day” at daycare, so that explains the outfit. I don’t always dress him in flowers!
Gavin is changing so quicly right now. He is suddenly doing so many more things. He loves to imitate us, so if Daddy was watering the tree Gavin had to water the tree. He will finally wave when we wave. Until now he just didn’t want to do anything on command. When I was giving him “big hugs” and patting his back, he patted my back too! We raise our hands above our heads, so does he. It is much fun. He looks cute, we look silly!
He can climb up his slide and sit with feet forward. (He still sticks to the slide, so needs me to lift his feet to slide down - long pants would solve that but it’s 90 degrees out!)
We think he is talking, but doesn’t have a lot of recognizable words. We count his first word as “Up” on June 30 when he wanted me to pick him up. Now he says something that sounds like “dog” when he points to either of the dogs. And imitates us when we speak, making the same sounds. I am naming everything that interests him to see what he will say. Still no “Mama” or “Dada” has passed his lips!
Oh, and he got 2 more teeth. The 6th in front and one molar!
He is moving up to the next room at daycare. Right now it is for a few hours every day until after the teacher’s vacation next week. He is definitely ready for the new room. More room to play, and more structure to the play. They sit in chairs (and are not strapped in), and on his first day when told to stay in the chair when he was about to go running off, he did. Luckly, he really loves chairs. He loves to sit in them and bounce against the back.
So many changes, and so much fun!
