I have a little shadow…

Originally uploaded by scott_stults

Gavin found his shadow. We were on the street (yes,I’m teaching my baby to play in the road!) and he stopped and stared at his shadow. I told him to take a few steps forward and he did (surprising in itself). He was excited to see the shadow move with him!

He is growing up so quickly. He is learning to do so many things. He is starting to talk, though mostly still unrecognizable. He can High-Five and loves how excited we get when he does. He’s learning to eat with a spoon. He can climb the ladder for his slide, get his feet in the right position going forward, and slide down with no help! He spent most of this weekend in his pool, sliping and sliding and loving it!

He loves his shoes, but not his clothes. He brings his shoes to me to have me put them on him, but runs for the hills if he sees me approaching with a shirt or pair of shorts! Oh, and he enjoys Mama and Dada’s shoes as well.

He moved up a room at daycare. He now has both more freedom and more rules. The toddlers get to go outside much more and he loves that. He’s been on a moon bounce and today will go on a trampoline! Yikes! He sleeps on a cot and remarkably doesn’t try to get up and wander around. He also sits on a chair at the table (little chair, little table) to eat at daycare. He’s even done that a few times at home, but not too often!

He is such a fun little boy, but he also has his toddler side. Since he can’t really communicate yet, he cries a lot when he doesn’t get what he wants, and he wants a lot of things - to be on the other side of the baby gate, to go upstairs when he is downstairs, to go downstairs when he is upstairs, to be inside cabinets that are locked, for toys to do something other than they are made to do, to hit Mama with a wooden spoon and still get to keep the spoon, and the list goes on.

It’s such a fun time with changes every day!

Wagon Ride

Gaviin goes for a wagon ride. We take the wagon around the neighborhood and around the yard. He likes to ride, and sometimes to push it too. One wagon ride around the neighborhood took about an hour this weekend because Gavin had to get out and play along the way!

Chatty Gavin

Here is Gavin chatting away. He definitely make some noise these days. And we are finding that he defiitely has some words. Dog and Frog both sound like “ga” but you can tell by what he is point to. He says Me Me when he wants his pacifier. Occasionally I recognize that he is naming something else but I don’t always figure out what he’s talking about!
